World Head & Neck Cancer Day 27 July 2017

Hi there!!

Today is Thursday 27 July 2017 and its World Head & Neck Cancer Awareness Day.

Dave is now ten months since his last day of radiotherapy treatment and he is doing absolutely amazing, which I am so pleased to be able to say.

The other weekend we participated in the Hunter Valley Running/Walking Festival which was a first time for both of us entering such an event.  We entered, along with our walking group friends in the 6k walk.  Dave walked the 6ks in 50 minutes and 50 seconds (00:50:50).... he's a legend!!!  I on the other hand did it in 1hr 01 minute and 01 second (01:01:01)!  Here's Dave coming over the finish line with Russell.  Tracey out of our walking group has christened Dave our 'iron man'!

Last night we were talking with friends about organising a group and entering to walk the 'Sydney City to Surf' next year to raise awareness and money for Head and Neck Cancer.  We have a year to train for it!  Lets do it!

Dave is eating normally now.  Though still not good with spicy foods and still isn't able to enjoy a glass of wine.  Though he is enjoying a craft beer with strong flavours now and then.

Dave's next follow up with the Radio Oncologist is on the 26th October 2017.  The follow ups are normally every four months however were going to be going away for a well earned holiday and the specialist is away too.  So this time it will be a five monthly check up.

Until our next update, take care of each other xxx

Hi there... thank you for your comment. Have you been diagnosed with head & neck cancer? where are you located?
